Taking stock of the HP Color LaserJet CP4005n printer reveals a machine ready to go across a broad spectrum of print tasks and performance criteria. Hewlett-Packard seems to have built this particular printer to accommodate the work needs of just about any sort of workgroup looking for a black-and-white and color printer. It might not be the cheapest printer on the block, but neither is it the most expensive.
Print speeds in the 4005n are fairly exceptional, considering that the printer is made to handle both color and monochrome. In black-and-white, the 4005n is able to print out at a robust 30 ppm while color print jobs are given to the tasker at around 25 ppm. It’ll be difficult to find another printer for the price that could do this sort of print tasking at the same price point.
In all, the 4005n looks to have been created by Hewlett-Packard to kick out the highest number of copies possible in the shortest amount of time reasonable. From the time the printer is tasked with its print job until the time that the first sheet emerges is only about 12 seconds and each sheet will come out looking more than fine at 600 dots per inch print resolution.
Almost every IT specialist assigned the task of joining this particular machine to a network will be pleased at how easy it will be to do. It comes with connectivity capability that is standard nowadays, including a USB and Ethernet 10/100 port. It doesn’t come with wireless ability, but that’s not what HP has designed this printer to be able to do.
Supplied memory is fine, with 128MB of RAM onboard and ready to go. It can be increased up 512MB if needed, though it’ll most likely be the case that most workgroups will be just fine with memory available as it is. Everything in terms of handling incoming and outgoing print assignments is handled via a well-working 533MHz microprocessor, meaning the printer should be able to handle multiple tasks with ease and speed.
The 4005n printer is able to keep about 600 sheets of paper in its onboard auto load input trays. It can, if needed, store up to 1100 sheets once optional equipment has been added. It can also print out on a wide variety of various media stock, including high gloss paper as well as envelopes, labels and transparencies along with plain paper.
Maximum monthly duty cycle ratings for this particular printer can be as much as 80,000 pages per month. This gives it a durability that many other printers in this price range will be hard-pressed to match, especially given that this printer is featured at a relatively lower-cost. It’ll be rare indeed if maintenance is needed more than required. HP recommends minor maintenance after about 7000 pages.
In total, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005n printer seems to come at one fully loaded and ready to go. It is a relatively high-speed, high quality printer and current pricing for it is running between $900 and $1600, depending on whether or not one is buying a refurbished or a new model. It runs off of a wide variety of different operating systems, including Mac OS 10.2 and later. It does many things well and almost nothing poorly. toner refill is the ink that the printer uses. Hp Toner is found online or in stores. Just make sure to get HP Color LaserJet CP4005n printer toner so it is compatible.
