Computer games have already become an inalienable part of people’s life. Most of us can easily remember the first games we played and name our favorite ones. It is the history and this history is very important for us, because we are those, who have been witnesses of the beginning of technological progress and flourishing of computer age. Computer games gained the top of their popularity in the beginning of 1990’s together with the appearance of the first powerful personal computers that could fulfill several tasks at a time. It has become possible to use computers not only for keeping the important information, but also to listen to the music due to the powerful soundcards, watch videos due to the constantly developing video adaptors, etc. Games could not be played without enhanced processors and video controllers. Immediately after the appearance of the relatively powerful models of computers, computer game manufacturers began to design brand new computer games, much more qualitative and interesting than Tetris and other primitive logical games of that time. The first game to shake the world of computer games was Warcraft I released in 1994. People, who got their CDs with the game and played it at least once, had a chance to appreciate the game at its true value. The greatest advantage of the Warcraft I was that it was the first game, presenting the new genre of computer games named RPG, or role-playing game. The game let you get a character and live its virtual life, fighting with other gamers and making important decisions as well as in the real life. This genre got its name due to the similarity to the real life. Actually, that was the main reason why people loved this game immediately after its release. The greatest minus of the game was its incapability to support more than to players at a time on one and the same game server. It was not that interesting to play, when you had only several possible rivals. The situation remained unchanged until the beginning of the 21st century. Warcraft II and Warcraft III, which were released in 1996 and 2002 could not let many people played together. Blizzard Entertainment decided to change it in 2004, when they released the new game called World of Warcraft. More than a thousand of players could play the game on one game server and this intercommunication between gamers was fulfilled through the Internet. The game belonged to the newly-created genre MMORPG. The main peculiarity of the genre was the possibility to play any RPG online and intercommunicate with the game players from everywhere. The innovation belongs to Blizzard and the popularity of the company grows stronger due to the constant improvements and add-ons, which make Blizzard’s games powerful and unique.
