Spending a few minutes with the HP LaserJet 5n printer using HP LaserJet 5n toner is more than enough time to illustrate the performance aspects of this versatile machine. In truth, it seems specially-purposed for use in small businesses or among larger workgroups within a large business and is able to multitask easily enough. Additionally, its cost is relatively extremely reasonable, which is a welcome fact these days.
Expected printing time for the 5n is approximately 12 pages per minute in plain black and white. Printing speed for larger legal size sheets of paper can be expected to be about 14 pages. This printer can more than adequately accomplish any standard workload, whether connected to a single desktop computer or interfaced into a large workgroup within a company.
Connecting the Hewlett-Packard 5n to any standard network can be done in a breeze, it must be said. This can be accomplished simply by using the USB, parallel or Ethernet ports. Getting this printer up and running can be done with swiftness and ease by most any person who takes several minutes to go through the installation menus and then hook the machine up.
The printer features 600 dots per inch (dpi) for printing. With this type of print resolution, the completed projects will have a clean and precise appearance, which is more than many other printers in this particular segment are capable of pulling off. Font types are exceptional, with more than 45 types available for a myriad of application choices.
As far as the processing speed of this printer goes, it should be enough to keep a small business running smoothly in terms of getting out the print product it needs, at 33 MHz. Keep in mind that this machine is intended to be a basic workhorse and one that will get the job done competently and with no drama, and everything should be fine in terms of expectations.
The 5n comes with a standard 2 MB of memory which can be upgraded to a total 66 MB. For small print tasks, 2 MB should be more than sufficient, though one might want to consider having additional memory added if the machine is going to fill a role in a large workgroup or in a business that is anything but small in terms of its production capabilities.
No matter the printing media selected, the HP 5n should be able to take up the job and handle it. It prints out on envelopes, transparencies, standard paper and labels in a competent, no-nonsense manner, too. As far as how much paper the 5n can store, it’s rated at 350 sheets in the included trays. Monthly duty cycle is also excellent, at 35,000 pages before any maintenance will be needed.
The HP LaserJet 5n printer is compatible with Windows-based operating systems as well as being able to accommodate Macs through a special transport portal known as Apple Talk. Prices are also fairly reasonable, and one should be able to find this printer available anywhere from $150 up to $400 at both online and brick-and-mortar retailers. It can make for a relatively good printer for those on a budget.
Value, as in dollar to performance, is a consideration for operation of a printer and it’s here where the HP LaserJet 5n printer toner cartridges shines. Reprints due to smudges are costly, however, HP replacement toner seems to eliminate that worry. Using great toner cartridges makes your overall costs lower.
