There is only a small amount of people that fully understand the information associated with telecom billing OSS. There is a vast amount of information that the general public does not get exposed to about the topic itself. This can make the topic seem very intimidating for most people to discuss. However, there are some basic factors that should be summarized for most people to understand in order to make the subject easier to discuss.
OSS is the abbreviation for operational support system. This is a system that is only used by telecommunication providers. Generally this term is used to refer to network systems and network inventory. It can also be used in reference to network components that need to be configured or various provisioning services.
It should not, however, be confused with BSS. BSS stands for business support system. The term is fairly more recent and is somewhat new. It refers to businesses that deal with payments and taking orders. This would also deal with customer interaction and bill procession. There is a difference between BSS and OSS, but it should be noticed that both terms are used together most often. This is because they interlock in interactions.
All OSS tasks were completed by people before 1970. After 1970, people realized that many of these tasks could be done by technology that was being created at the time. This would fill in for human labor. Telecommunication companies then created computer systems that could maintain and complete the tasks that humans previously needed to do.
Because of this, the development of Unix C programming language eventually happened. There were many other types of technology that were also created from this decision, and have since affected the rest of the world. However, originally, most of the systems that were used for OSS were not even linked or networked together. This resulted in numerous systems that had to take care of tasks separately.
Since information could not be networked between the systems, the result was that an individual had to constantly transfer the information manually. This was done by the use of switches and plugs. Since networking had not yet been discovered completely or even perfected, this was the only way for information to be transferred between systems.
Although OSS has changed a vast amount since then, there are still some problems with the system. It is considered very expensive for upkeep and is thought to be too large. The telecom industry has a goal that eventually they will discover a way for OSS to become a smaller based system. This would be less expensive and would be more organized as a result. Because of this goal, there is constant research to change the production of OSS itself.
Of course, there is much more to know about Telecom Billing System. This is the most simple overview of the main history and points of the system. This technology is always changing and expanding as time progresses. It is hoped that as years continue, there will be a greater change in the technology that is associated with Telecom Billing Software itself.
