Prior to the production of the new Playstation 3 Slim, back in Sep 2009, Sony were really beginning to stress about PS3 sales. The lead competition; Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360, wereboth outselling the console together with their own software. The issue was pinned down to Sony’s refusal to move on the big price ticket, and thus the other consoles became popular due to increased afforability. Sony’s luck then changed quite drastically though, with the production of the new Playstation 3 Slim.
This revamp isnot an additional model, the new Playstation 3 Slim has totally replaced the original models and thus is seen as the sole official Playstation 3 console. As with the last, the system is offered in both 120GB or 250GB, offering consumers the same choices in capacity as before. Further functions include EasyLink, which augments the HDMI capacities of both your Playstation and the TV it is hooked up to.
As the title might reveals, the Playstation 3 slim is a lot more compact and space-friendly than what its progenitor is. Coming in at over 30% smaller and lighter; a nice instigation as the size of the original was always a sore point. Similarly, the reduced scale also burns a lot less power, which suggests the console won’t heat up as fast. This was never amassive problem for the Playstation 3, particularly compared to rivals, but a cooler console amounts to a better console.
Finally, Sony issued a reallylarge price reduction on the console. Seemingly what the public was waiting for, sales rocketed in the Autumn and Sony were totally back in the battle. The Playstation 3 Slim console presents a really unified and logical step up for the company- promoting the same great console in a smaller, more fan friendly compack package and reducing the cost makes everybody really happy- Sony get their sales and we get anew and enhanced console!
