Getting cold in winter can be life threatening for some of the more vulnerable groups of society including the elderly who often refuse to put their central heating on for fear of the cost. How can we stay warm during the colder months whilst we are outside and in our homes?
Using your central heating at the right time in the day will mean you can limit your bills. Have it on so it has worked before you wake up and get in from work. You will not need to have your central heating on all the time of you do this. Central heating installation can be done in time for winter and there are some good deals on at the moment.
Many people do not wear socks or slippers in the house. Your feet can be a major source of heat loss from our bodies so it is important to keep them insulated. Also think about wearing a thick jumper or hooded top as this can save on heating bills. It is also really comfy. When you are outside wear the appropriate clothing as well. If it is likely to snow or rain, keep a waterproof jacket with you. Try to keep your feet as dry as possible also. You shouldn’t be wearing pumps in wet weather.
Having your house insulated will help you during colder months. Your house should be insulated do replace any older than 25 years and if you don’t have any at all, get some! It might be an expensive initial cost but will save you money over the next 25 years.
