The right shape, size and color make the right impact. This is especially significant in the case of outdoor patio cushions. They are essential part of the outdoor fixtures. Unfortunately, we often overlook them while planning for the perfect patio. You will benefit more if you give them the importance they deserve. There are as many types of cushions as there are patio chairs. Learn something about the materials used in making the cushions before you buy them
To achieve durability we need to make sure that the cushions are protected from inside. Buy cushions that have several layers of polyester filling. This will allow the cushions to breathe properly and dry up from inside. The fabrics should be chemically treated and have woven acrylic blend with an open cell structure. This allows the cushions to let water flow through them and not trap the moisture inside. This will make them resistant to mildew as well. Make sure that the cushions are coated with Teflon, which not only protects them from soil and stain, but also keeps the color vibrant.
If you want to give further protection to your cushions, you can buy covers for them. In fact, many people buy covers for all the outdoor fixtures like chairs, tables, grills, heaters etc. Such covers are provided with Velcro, elastic bands or tie-ups to secure them to the fixtures so that the breeze does not blow them away. Needless to say, such covers should be made from heavyweight water resistant material and should also be coated with chemicals that will make them fade and stain resistant. Buy them in light but attractive colors so that they do not absorb much of the sun’s heat.
